Greetings friends! Sheldon’s the name, winning’s the game! I’ve been tapped by my friends at the Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grill to compete in this year’s Tour de Turtles marathon. I’ve been training hard all year, stretching my flippers and perfecting my dive. I’ve also been studying up on the threat of plastic in the ocean, including plastic straws. Bits of plastic get into the ocean and break into smaller and smaller pieces in the waves and sand. Those little bits of plastic often are mistaken as yummy plankton and eaten by fishes and baby turtles. Balloons, plastic bags, fishing line and boat lines all are made out of plastics and when tumbled and tied by Triton’s waves those items start to look an awful lot like sweet gooey jellyfish. To help keep the ocean plastic debris free, try to limit the plastics you buy/use by using reusable water bottles and shopping bags. Tell you waiter “no straws please” or go to restaurants that no longer use plastic straws, like sponsor’s restaurant, the Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille. And always pick up trash, even if it is not yours. Pura vida!
I was named by my Sponsor,
The Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille. Check out my marathon migration map, where you can follow along as I swim to raise awarness about the threat of Plastic Debris to sea turtles. Please help me raise awareness about my cause by supporting me!
