Hiya! My name is Spongie and I was named after one of my favorite snacks in all the sea! Even though I prefer the slow-paced, island lifestyle most of the time, I agreed to participate in this year’s Tour de Turtles to help out my sponsors at the Four Seasons Nevis. They need me to help spread the word about a serious threat to us hawksbills—illegal shell trade. Unfortunately, instead of just admiring me, some humans want to take my gorgeous shell and make it into art of their own, like jewelry, hair accessories or other trinkets. What am I supposed to do without my shell?! I certainly can’t win a race that way! I hope you’ll join me and my friends at the Four Seasons Resort Nevis in spreading the word about the illegal shell trade. Remember, you can look but you can’t touch! Now I’m off to bulk up on some more sponge to prepare for the big race!

I was named by my Sponsor, Four Seasons. Check out my marathon migration map, where you can follow along as I swim to raise awarness about the threat of Illegal Shell Trade to sea turtles. Please help me raise awareness about my cause by supporting me!
