Hola amigos! This is only the second year any turtle from my home country of Cuba has participated in the prestigious Tour de Turtles program and I am honored to have been selected! While this race is sure to be a shell-load of fun, I am mainly swimming to shed some light on a serious problem that’s no bueno for all my fellow turtles. Commercial longline fisheries are bad news for me and all my ocean amigos. I even got hooked myself once!  While I was getting my fancy new satellite transmitter attached this summer, it was discovered that I had a large fishing hook in my front right flipper. Ay dios mío!  Luckily, with the assistance of staff from The Turtle Hospital, STC staff were able to safely remove the hook and I was just fine. But many of my friends are not as lucky as me! So please support me in the race so we can beat the toughest competitor… longline fisheries!

I was named by my Sponsor, Sea Life Trust. Check out my marathon migration map, where you can follow along as I swim to raise awarness about the threat of Commercial Longline Fisheries to sea turtles. Please help me raise awareness about my cause by supporting me!
